This is a rectangular non-glazed bonsai container which measures 13.46 x  10.24 x 6.57 inches.  This pot is from the early Shinto period- 1960’s and is high quality.  One side has an images of a small bird on a blossoming branch which the other has a portion of a Chinese poem. The clay color is a beautiful reddish-brown which has darkened overtime from years of use.  

The poem written in Chinese translate roughly to:

“Days are warm and breezy, birds softly chirp, shadows of flowers overlay under the sun which rises high.”
